Beautiful and Durable Carefree Finishes
All our top quality MDF/RTF doors feature a matching back and are full 3/4" thick.
MDF/RTF (rigid thermofoil) cabinet doors have come a long way. The plastic-looking finishes of yore are gone, replaced by wood grains and textures that are hard to distinguish from the real thing. They are longer lasting and easier to clean than ever!
Here, you can select styles ranging from clean, flat, slab doors and classic Euro doors with wooden, continuous rail pulls to elegant, routed panel doors with your choice of design. It's easy to find a door that is exactly what you're looking for.
Once you have selected your door style, you will be shown choices of finishes and door edge profiles. When you are finished designing your perfect door, you will be offered a choice in matching drawer fronts.
After you have built your door and drawer front design you can begin entering your quantities and dimensions. You will also be given the options for hinge boring and whether or not you want mullions (glass frames) for any of your new doors.
When you are finished ordering your doors and drawer fronts, you should visit our refacing supplies section and purchase matching self-adhesive veneers, hinges, handles, valances, moldings and replacement drawer boxes and drawer glides. We have everything you need to complete your kitchen refacing project.
What is MDF?
The core of these doors are MDF. This is medium-density fiberboard. It has become the most popular composite material in recent years. Because MDF is consistantly very dense, smooth and free of knots and grain patterns, it makes an excellent substitute for solid wood in many applications. It is an excellent base for RTF (Ridged Thermofoil) finishes which come in solid colors as well as woograins. It is also the perfect choice for painting because there is no woodgrain showing through. MDF doors have no joints to crack after they have been painted. MDF is made up of wood particles and resin. The particles are separated uniformly to make a fine, consistent material that is cooked and pressure steamed. The material is then bound with an adhesive and heat pressed to produce a solid board with many of the same qualities of natural wood, but without many of natural wood's limitations. Because of MDF's consistent makeup, machining this material with the right tools results in clean, sharp edges without chip-out or fuzzing. Because MDF is more dense than most woods, we use only the highest quality tools of carbide and diamond for cutting. MDF can be glued and holds screws as well as natural wood.
What is RTF?
RTF is "Ridged Thermofoil". This is a cross between a vinyl and laminate. It comes in solid colors as well as woodgrains. We only use the most up to date technology to apply this material to MDF. We apply the RTF to an MDF substrate with a bladder press. Our glues do not emit any kind of vapors which could lead to pealing or bubbling over time. The resulting product is very durable. We provide a 5 year warranty against pealing, chipping, bubbling or fading. RTF (rigid thermo foil) cabinet doors have come a long way. The woodgrain RTF veneers are photographs of wood rather than an artist’s depiction. In fact, many of these veneers have natural looking woodgrain texture built right into them. RTF has become the most popular choice for homeowners who want a beautiful product without all the care and up keep of natural woods. Better Homes and Gardens has touted RTF cabinetry as "the 40 year kitchen"!
